I recently came across this thread HERE and found it very interesting as it crosses over into the home cinema world in so many ways.
As technology gets better and better it allows the filmmakers to not just make a Hollywood blockbuster but to also start making films inside computer games. Now a normal film has one main story which is fixed although more recently we now have alternative endings and other directions even in standard films.
Anchorman was also an interesting concept because they actually made an entirely different 2nd film by using all the cut scenes; they had so many they could make an entire new film!
This leads to the question of how may possibilities are needed to really create a dynamic computer game which can have unlimited numbers of outcomes. I’m sure this will be truly possible soon but at present the advent of interactive online gaming such as World of Warcraft has really made the computer game a human on human experience and I do wonder if the complete virtual world will ever take over from this now.
I’d be interested to hear all your comments on this because as an up and coming filmmaker myself I’m very curious as to the future of this medium.
